Homegrown is all about fresh local producEat Drink Perth - Gusti Restaurant e. Developing innovative dishes with local produce to deliver inspired cuisine. Gusti Restaurant at Crowne Plaza Perth will feature the Homegrown menu during April in support of Eat Drink Perth.

Eat Drink Perth hosted by Perth City Council celebrates Perth’s vibrant food and bar scene. It showcases the newest and greatest food and beverage experiences to be had in City of Perth. The 10th anniversary of Eat Drink Perth is the biggest so far with a massive program of over 140 participating venues.

Gusti’s Homegrown menu has been specially put together by Head Chef, Vikas Chandra. Below he talks about his hero dishes and explains how he brings them to life on the plate. But first it’s important to know that all fruit and vegetables are farm fresh from local suppliers.

Using the freshest ingredients in the market allows full flavored meals. Purchasing local food helps the economic growth and development of Western Australia. It’s important to support the local food industry including growers, producers and business. Local produce has also traveled a shorter distance and is a much better option then eastern states or imported produce. Fresh is always best and tastes better too.

WA Naturaliste Grilled Beef Tenderloin Thai Salad

Our Beef comes from Cape Naturaliste which is a headland in the south western region of WA at the western edge of the Geographic Bay.  The way the beef is cooked, makes all the difference. The beef is seared on the grill then rested for a few minutes at 80 degree celsius. This makes it overly tender and taste succulent. The Beef is served with fresh crispy texture bean shoots, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and glass noodle. Toasted crunchy peanuts with house made sweet spicy dressing adds a nice kick to the dish and balance to the overall flavor.

Smoked salmon salad

Smoked salmon adds a unique taste to the salad. The yellow waxy texture of the kipflers and natural spiciness of rocket pesto works exceptionally well with the overall dish. Salmon is always a crowd pleaser and the perfect sized dish to satisfy your hunger without spoiling your main meal.

Humpty doo Barramundi

Salt water Barramundi are raised in the pristine waters of remote and sparsely-populated northern Australia. It’s basically west meeting the northern territory. The soft texture is a delight to eat and the lemon beuree blanc adds the perfect amount of zest to the dish.

Lilly Dale free range chicken breast

The most popular brand of chicken in Australia, which is also harvested and breed in Australia. The fresh local tomatoes are used to make home made Makhani chicken sauce. Full flavored tomatoes with seasoning gives the sauce an authentic taste. The succulent pieces of chicken with perfectly cooked basmati rice works wonders when mixed with the sweet and spicy sauce.

Award winning Gelatino ice creams from Perth.  This family owned well trusted brand of gelato contains many fruity, fresh and traditional flavours. The creamy texture and refined flavors make this ice cream so delicious.
