Celebrate Perth’s Pride Festival

Decked out in rainbow the city of Perth will host its annual Pride Festival (PrideFEST) this November, WA’s biggest LGBT+ festival. It’s a great and fun event to be part of to show your support. Also it’s a great time to visit Perth. Find out more about it here and how you can get involved.

Welcome to PrideFEST

PrideFEST is a celebration of all things pride in Perth and around Western Australia.  It is the highlight of the Pride calendar with a month of arts, culture and community events stages all over Western Australia.  This year it runs from Saturday 2nd November until Saturday 30th November. It starts off with Fairday in Hyde Park on Saturday 2nd November and closes on Saturday 30th November with the annual Pride Parade through Northbridge and Street Party. A perfect time to book your Perth holiday and experience what the city has to offer

History of PrideFEST

In 2019, PrideFEST will celebrate 30 years in Western Australia! It was in October 1989 on the steps of WA’s Parliament that over 300 people demonstrated their support to decriminalise homosexuality.  It was after this event that Pride WA was born and one year later in 1990, the first Perth Pride Parade was held.

The Different Parades

There will be different parades plus a street party that make up the upcoming November event giving you more options to participate which consist of:

  • 2nd November – Perth Pride Fair Day, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • 30 November – Perth Pride Parade, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
  • 30 November – Perth Pride Parade, 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
  • 30 November – Francis Street Party (after the night parade)

Reflect, Love, Heroes, Community & Identity

The theme for this year’s PrideFEST  is ‘Reflect, love, heroes, community & identity.’ It is an appropriate theme that takes into account the changing society’s attitudes towards being gay. It’s also a good theme to reflect on the city of Perth and its changes over time. You may want to do some of your own reflection as you take a walk along the picturesque Swan River or sit back and relax in your hotel room.
